Carmen Cappello at The Wishing Well (767 S. Ninth St.) has debuted a new brunch menu. The menu's an attempt to go a little easier on the meat and offer more vegetarian options, like the new pumpkin bread French toast served with cranberry compote (you can now also order pumpkin bread as a side) and a create-your-own omelette feature. But for the meat-loving crowd, options still abound, including a SHAME omelette (an eggy version of their scrapple-topped SHAME burger) and "The Hangover Bowl." Described as a "bowl of gluttony" by barback Erik Endsley, it's layered with comfort food: grits, smoked cheddar, bacon, roasted tomato, home fries and a couple soft-poached eggs, all covered in sawmill gravy. Brunch is served from 11 to 4 on Saturdays and Sundays, and for that real hangover cure — keep drinking! — get the brunch special: $25 gets you a brunch entrée and endless Bloody Marys or mimosas. Menu after the jump.

Kibitz Room, which opened at 1521 Locust in the spring of 2009, has been taken over real estate broker Allan Domb and converted into Schlesinger's — still a Jewish deli, but now run by Louis Barson of Merion's Hymie's. The deli, which is open now, is in the process of being updated (new booths on the way); they've also expanded hours to seven days a week, beginning at 7 a.m. for breakfast and running through 8 p.m. for dinner (takeout, delivery and catering too). Here's Schlesinger's menu (PDF), which now includes an expanded sandwich lineup (burgers, four kinds of reuben) and various entrées.

I remember Hymie’s being pretty good when I was at St Joe's. Mazel tov to the new owners!

I ate here last night. Three roll special is a great deal and the sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. The guys who work there are all very sweet, too. Next time I have more than $10 in my pocket I might splurge on some appetizers.

Paul Trowbridge, veteran of Alison at Blue Bell, Moriarty's, Vega Grill and Blue Horse Tavern, has taken over the kitchen at Devil's Den (1148 S. 11th St.) from Alex Urena, who came on about a year ago from R2L and has reportedly moved back to New York due to personal issues. Peep DD's latest menu, launching today, after the jump. Also going down tonight at Devil's — Brooklyn's Sixpoint is kicking off the Philadelphia premiere of its "Mad Scientist Series," which features the brewery's peculiar draft-only creations. Tonight from 5 to 7 starting at 7, you can cop drafts of their Spelt Wine, a 9.5 percent ABV barleywine-style beer for which half the barley for the brew was replaced by spelt. UPDATE: Quick clarification: Sixpoint's Spelt Wine will be tapped at 7 p.m. And Devil's will offer their half-price happy-hour draft deal from between 5 and 7, as per usual. Sorry for the confusion.

It's funny, b/c I was so pissed when Alex took the duck fries off of the menu when he came aboard, but now I'm pissed that Paul has taken the crab ravioli off his newish menu. Whatcha gonna do. The duck fries are heaven on a plate and I look forward to scarfing them down with some kick ass beer.

Here's a peek at the brand-new menu at Time (1315 Sansom St.), from the evil minds of chef Josh McCullough and his sous Sean Magee. Everything sounds lovely and very winter-appropriate, but there is one item on here that's causing us some concern. No, not the pan-seared snapper. No, not the risotto balls. No, not the OK IT'S THE CHICKEN-FRIED FOIE GRAS YOU PEOPLE ARE INSANE. Time is battering up a lobe of foie and serving it with a poached egg, HOLLANDAISE and country duck gravy. There's also bacon on top of it. How do you live with yourselves?! Also see you in a few, about to eat that.

1 Shot Coffee opened in its brand-new location at American and George this past Friday, so we paid a quick visit this a.m. to grab some pics of this quite-impressive bilevel space for y'all. Philly-based hospitality designer Chris Sheffield, who also happens to be a 1 Shot regular, put together the plans for owner Melissa Baruno's new café, a serious upgrade from 1 Shot's more modest original home on Liberties Walk. The ground floor has a traditional coffeehouse feel, but there are innumerable thoughtful touches, like distressed ceiling panels, a plush banquette, globule lighting fixtures, a stool-seating coffee bar and custom shelving to house 1 Shot's supply of Stumptown beans. Head up a flight of stairs and you'll find 1 Shot's communal-style second floor, complete with bookshelves, comfy-couch reading area and all styles of seating; also check out the drink rail framing a (currently inoperable) '79 Honda motorcycle, which the 1 Shot crew wheeled up the staircase themselves. Chef Michael Thomas, late of Kraftwork, is offering a brunch-style menu — lots of veggie/vegan options — every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check it out in full after the jump.

Kokopelli (1904 Chestnut St.), the Southwestern small-plater we first told you about in September, will open quietly tonight — right on schedule! The redo of Pearl, from entrepreneur/event planner Adam Solomon and his partners Kenny Yeretzian and Rich Brenner, still has a clubby feel to it thanks to the décor (vibe lighting, beaded partitions), but there's plenty of bar and dining-room seating for guests to take advantage of chef Gina Rodriguez's SW-style menu, which you can check out after the jump. (The large second floor, which also boasts a bar, is designated for private events.) Rodriguez, an Arizona native who comes to Philly from a number of high-profile, large-scale operations out west (most recently running the 300+ seat BlueFire Grill at the LaCosta Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, near San Diego), says to figure on three to four plates per person for dinner (they range from $5 to $16). Signatures on her opening menu include diver scallops with a chorizo mushroom ragout in an arbol gastrique; three types of tamales; and a Mexican chorizo mac 'n' cheese. To drink, Kokopelli (he's lil' horn-tootin' dude, the American Indian deity of fertility and music) will offer more than 50 varieties of tequila, including specialty flights ranging in price from $11 to $83. A few specialty cocktails (a house margarita, a blood orange martini) and tight wine and beer lists round out the libations.

It's pretty. I like the downstairs better than the way it look when it was Pearl. The upstairs is great for rentals. Do they still have the same lounge like seats there?

Charles, from what I understand, that's part of Kokopelli's steez, too, mischief and all. But he's very closely associated with birth and fertility too.

Though we reported last week that the long, long, long-awaited Sticks & Stones (1909 E. Passyunk Ave.) would be debuting this long holiday weekend, we decided that a bit of visual confirmation couldn't hurt, so we popped in yesterday evening. (OK, we also just wanted a beer.) Nick Miglino's P'yunk Ave operation is indeed rolling, and was packed pretty tight on Sunday for an industry night special. They had lots of nice craft beers on tap, all priced at $5.50 (Lefthand Sawtooth, Weyerbacher Harvest, Flying Dog Raging Bitch, Bell's Two-Hearted, Stone Arrogant Bastard, etc.), and there's also a nice large-format bottle list. Though the menu was not live for yesterday's festivities (they instead were putting out gratis snacks for the in-the-biz guests), we snagged a shot of the internationally themed offerings, which you can check out after the jump.
