Sixers propose horrifying new mascots—owner says it's “un-American” if you don't like them

If you hated the Sixers Hip-Hop, you'll hate what the Sixers are proposing to replace what Dan Stamm aptly calls “the Rat-King-like mascot” even more.

Meet: Big Ben, B. Franklin Dogg and Phil E. Moose. Big Ben, the only remotely relevant proposal, is perhaps the most terrifying. He's definitely the pastiest.

But readers, before you dismiss these idiotic sports-creatures, consider this: Sixers owner Adam Aron says that “It’s un-American not to like B. Franklin Dogg.”

So choose your poison here--before Aron has you declared an enemy combatant.

I'm a native of Washington D.C., and this reminds me of when they renamed The Bullets “The Wizards” in some sort of weird talismanic effort to halt gun violence. Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins—the team with the most racist name and legacy in professional sports--are still called...The Washington Redskins.
