I found these at the bodega on the corner of Sixth and Tasker streets.
Besides the fact that condoms are, kinda by nature, anti-family doesn't the phrase "family condoms" gross you out? Especially next to pictures of sexy gals squeezing their armpits, with titles like "Sweet Love" and "Erotic Sensation" above them?
Best Pho in Philly?

Christine Adkins here with your morning fix:
Obama rolls up his sleeves, literally, and pleads with Congress to move forward on a health care bill.
As if you couldnt already tell who the young New Jersey drivers were, come May 1st everyone can look at licenses plates and figure it out. Young drivers must pay $4 to place special decals on their plates showing their relative age.
Another runaway Toyota! A man in California was finally able to stop his over-accelerating Prius after 20 minutes alongside California State Patrol at 90mph. And Toyota says its investigating.
Indonesian forces killed three suspected terrorists this morning after storming an Internet Café.
One New York City vet is trying to save animals and give them a voice in D.C., one legislative step at a time.
Take a look at the casually dressed Prez trying to sell the divided public (although not too divided of a crowd here, specifically) on health care reform this morning at Arcadia University.
Or, take a look at editor-in-chief Brian Howard's tweets on the event. (A few highlights: "Obama: GOP sez bring down costs. Obama sez we're bringing down costs duh" and "Ref to 'gov't run health care system' gets big applause.")
Another interesting tidbit: Howard said that neither President Obama nor Gov. Ed Rendell were booed upon entrance to the event, but Mayor Michael Nutter was. I guess a soda tax is more unpopular than pillaging our state's forests?
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!!!

| Roxbury News |
Yes, it's a week late but is it ever too late to watch videos of ultra-rich casino moguls blow up at reporters?
Hmm?
Exactly. So check out this video, taken by the mysterious and very diligent dude behind "Roxbury News," of Inquirer reporter Jennifer Lin trying to ask Steve Wynn about his proposed casino at last weeks Gaming Board hearing.
In the clip, Lin (hands-down one of the hardest-working reporters in town) asks Wynn a few basic questions about his proposed casino, like how he plans to get a building permit and whether he's heard of the recently-issued "civic vision" for the waterfront.
What's clear from the interview is that Wynn's own understanding of Foxwoods' troubled history on that site is . . . let's say, limited.
Lin wound up explaining to Wynn that Foxwoods had faced opposition to its waterfront site, and that because of delays in getting a building permit, the casino tried to relocate to Market East, near Chinatown.
"I wasn't part of that deal, I'm only part of this one," Wynn replied.
A few more highlights:
Jennifer Lin: Are you familiar with the two-year long process to come up with a civic vision for the waterfront, that the mayor paid for and endorsed, and that included
Steve Wynn: No, No, I answered you, no.
. . .
Wynn: Are you lecturing me or interviewing me?
Lin: I'm interviewing you and I'm asking you a question.
Wynn: Then please change the tone of your voice ma'am. I'm trying to be polite and I don't like the tone of your voice.
Lin: The finding of the civic vision was to have a more open waterfront and not build big box structures like casinos, home depots etc. Are you familiar with that, you said no. Are you curious what that vision was that was articulated?
Wynn: Well, it's clear that whatever that articulation was at some point in the past, that civic vision changed.
Perhaps in this case one might ask oneself, did he have a point? Was there a question in all the rhetoric? Is there such a thing as a run-on question? If not Ms. Lin has just invented it, so bravo darling. I think what most fail to realize in all this is that Steve Wynn has a superior level of intelligence and vision that the average Joe cannot even begin to acknowledge, let alone comprehend. They say if you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer. So what then do you get when you don't really ask a question at all? Oh yes, that's right, "a lecture". I suppose some of our friends who have unfortunately suffered from the dwarfed intelligence caused by lack of education and culture might call it a score for an arduous reporter standing her ground. I suppose had her thoughts and questions actually had any intellectual substance in foundation one could, yet after perusing it several times, alas, I cannot find it as though it were a needle in a haystack. (The intellectual substance in case you were lost). So once again my friends, my advice to all; let's all be grateful for the blessing of having a man of such character and extraordinary vision working in such fashion to better our ailing nation, instead of spending all our time attempting to belittle his genius with such unfounded thoughts born of ignorance. I pray someday more people will see that. Mazeltov "Uncle" Steve Wynn, we are blessed to have you in our lives.
I thought it was a good, tough exchange between two professionals. The media in this town (with the exception of Lin) pretend they are such such hard asses and as soon as someone stands up to them they whine like little bitches. Wynn is huge step up from the Barnes assholes.
I wish she was wearing a big honkin ring...so that when she finally hits him, he goes down, hard. She showed more cool and confidence than I could next to such a schmuck. Btw, I hope this exchange is a lesson to anyone who has't been hit over the head with the pitfalls of entrusting local civic visions to anchorless, predatory developers. He doesn't know navy yard from a hole in his head.
Where can i cheaply rent or buy a suit?

Lara Coleman here with your morning fix:
A preschooler was kicked out of his Boulder, Col. Catholic school, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, because her parents are lesbians.
Researchers have declared that a giant asteroid did in fact kill off dinosaurs 65 million years ago in the journal Science Friday. We thought that this was old news?
Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman director to receive a Best Picture Oscar for her film The Hurt Locker. The Hurt Locker and Bigelow beat out her ex-husband James Cameron's Avatar.
Over 500 are dead in Nigeria after a weekend of ethnic violence.
The FBI's Most Wanted List is turning 60: Thomas Holden, a bank robber and murderer was the first criminal to appear on the list on March 14, 1950.
President Obama visits Arcadia University today to press for health care reform. Students have been lined up outside of the doors since before 8:30 this morning; Obama is scheduled to speak at 11 am. CP editor Brian Howard is there, and will probably have something up on the Clog when he gets back.
The trial begins for a Philadelphia janitor, Anthony Mobley, who is accused of stealing a World Series ring from one of the stadium bathrooms.
Friday: Do you feel that? The temperature's rising, the days are lengthening. And First Friday is no longer a test of your endurance but a nice way to spend your TGI-time. Lori Hill returns for a guest spot of First Friday Focus. Welcome her back. Then it's time to decide between two titans of Philly musicalia: On one hand, it's West Phil-born DJ RJD2. On the other, it's freak-a-deek rock stars Man Man. Mama knows. Life is hard.

Mmm
Chocolate
Saturday: Do-do-do right for the bikers of this fine city by getting a turkey (check out that lingo!) at tonight's Red Bowl Bike Coalition Fundraiser. Or settle in with a book or a flick. Maybe something classic, or a once-classic that's soon to be forgotten?
Sunday: Let's hear it for the ladies at today's Womyns Fest that features the best of all things girly-like. Continue your support for the mammary set when Kathryn Bigelow attempts to becomes the first once woman ever to take home the bald and ball-ess statuette (that's Oscar, ya dig?) for best director. Cheer her on at the Institutes's Oscar Pajama Party.

Back in 2008, senior writer Isaiah Thompson wrote a piece about Philly cabbie leader Ron Blount, the Unified Taxi Workers Alliance of Pennsylvania (TWA-PA), and the difficulty that the city's taxi drivers faced while trying to unionize and ensure their rights. A year and a half later, what's one of the basic rights they're still fighting for? Workers' compensation.
Good news on that front: Todd Wolfson of the Media Mobilizing Project got the ear of Rep. Mark Cohen, who sponsored House Bill 1914, which would mandate that medallion (aka certification) owners pay for workers' comp for taxi drivers. Also, for handicapped passengers, the bill would provide wheelchair-accessible cab medallions.
The public hearing for the bill will be on Fri., March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall, Room 400.
Thanks for this mention of HB 1914. Taxi drivers have been working with the disabled community to move this bill forward. It has been an educational experience too. I have learned that the use of handicap is demeaning for them. Sincerely, I know that your use of the word in this article is not to be demeaning, but I would appreciate that you would correct its usage.
Keep in mind, cab driving is the most dangerous profession, more dangerous than being a police officer. They have to drive the worst members of society though the most dangerous sections of town. They carry cash but they are not allowed to carry a weapon! They take their lives into their hands daily! Also, they are sitting for 12 hours a day. They are at risk of any number of ailments. Not to mention, one of their responsibilities is driving the sick and infirmed to hospital thus exposing themselves to every known pathogen. Giving them workmen's comp is the least that should be done for them.
I know. I can't believe it either: Video? On the internet?
Oh, Brave new world!
Anyway, leave it to our brilliant friends at It's Our Money (or, as we call it around the office, "Three Men; One Blog; and a Whole Lot of Municipal Finance," to figure out how to make this "moving picture" of the mayor's budget address yesterday boiled down into four minutes.
Also, for anyone even remotely interested in what happens to this year's budget (Will Nutter succeed in implementing a really high tax on soda? Will "trash fees" make it through Council?) these guys will be covering the hell out of it, so put 'em on your reader.
