Hey, do you like local music?

Mary Bichner of Box Five
Sure, we all do. Today, for no good reason, I'd like to direct your attention to some Philly music web gems.

Beretta76, Hold you in Hell Love this band. This song's got a Magnapop-Tuscadero thing going on. Very catchy. (They warn of the mp3's poor quality, but it sounds right on to me.) Beretta76 plays the Khyber 6/17.

Cordalene, The Star Ledger. You can stream their entire new dream-poppy album by clicking on its title there, thus lauching a slick little media player. Read all about them in tomorrow's City Paper. Cordalene plays Spirit Wind Studio 6/10.

Box Five, Ceasefire. Haunted chamber pop from CP's favorite polymodal synesthete. This is just me picking one song, but the whole four-song EP is free as Halloween candy. Go here for that. Box Five plays the Tin Angel 6/15, and I hear a string section has been assembled for the show.

BC Camplight, Blood and Peanut Butter. Modern classic freakshow pop from Brian Christinzio (with Cynthia G. Mason holding up the bridges). BC's at the Tin Angel 6/9.

Okay, that's it for now. For more music by your neighbors, I gently nudge you toward Local Support, CP's music podcast hosted by Jon "The Human Radio Station" Solomon. And don't forget to listen to Jon's weekly live show on WPRB 103.3, Wednesdays, 7-10 p.m. Tonight's guest is Mondo Topless, who, coincidentally, also get some ink in tomorrow's CP.
