Father’s Day at Village Whiskey

Celebrate Father’s Day in a very manly style at Village Whiskey. Chef Jose Garces, a father himself, is holding a bourbon-and-burger special for the holiday. The prix fixe meal comprises the Village Burger with a healthy glass of Jose Garces’ signature Four Roses Single Barrel bourbon. Best of the Chefs

A fundraising event that benefits WHYY, Best of the Chefs is a showcase of Philadephia’s and the Delaware Valley’s best and brightest. Guests have the opportunity to sample the chefs’ creations and vote for categories like Best Dessert, Best Bite and the kingpin Best of the Chefs. Cocktails, wine and beer will be served in the beer garden to the sounds of live music. Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets at the event. Cuba Libre Pop-up Paladar

Following up his visit in January, Cuban chef Guillermo Pernot is returning to Cuba Libre, this time with chef Alain Rivera Santana. The paladar, or family-run restaurant, combines the talents of both chefs and their restaurants: Pernot is formerly of ¡Pasion! in San Francisco and Santana is of Doctor Café in Havana. The prix-fixe menu includes dishes like cod in vinegar-chile sauce with lamb tongue and beet salad, corn-pasta cannelloni with sweet crab enchilado filling and chilled mango soup with five-year-aged rum ice cream. Sampan Cocktail Contest Deadline

Friday is the last day to get your cocktail recipes in to Sampan’s Cocktail Throwdown. The only rule is you must use some variety of Finlandia vodka in your drink. The winner gets to invite 20 friends to the unveiling by Michael Schulson himself at the Graffiti Bar, and will have their cocktail on the menu for the month of July.
