We’re not gonna lie: Sometimes it’s a real challenge to muster excitement for the holidays. Sure, the movies are nostalgic (when they don’t star Sarah Jessica Parker), the seasonal nibbles delicious (we’re licking our lips at you, candy cane) and yadda, yadda, yadda, joy and cheer. But what gives with the gift list that seems to get longer (and more expensive) as we get older? Ain’t nobody got time for that. That’s why, when putting together this year’s Gift Guide, we decided to keep things nice and efficient by focusing on five brand-spanking-new local businesses. On the following pages you’ll find all kinds of unique giftables — from glow-in-the-dark jeans to recycled-rice-bag wallets made by women who escaped sex trafficking to nifty little vintage figurines of our beloved presidents. If our suspicions hold true, these five quick stops should take care of everyone on your list. And if one of your giftees still isn’t satisfied, well, we have another suggestion that should put a little twinkle in their jeer — a good ol’-fashioned knuckle sandwich. Happy holidays!
