Sure, everyone's blabbering on about the changes made to Star Wars for its re-release, but how about those new "special edition" Star Wars figurines? Looks like the Luke Skywalker doll has been sucking up steroids since 1977. He should be able kick Darth's ass no problem with his buff new pecs. Along those lines, you'd think Princess Leia would have gotten a boob job, but she's held her own nicely. Her gun, however, has doubled in size. Let that be a lesson to you gals: be happy with your small breasts and carry a big gun. Star Wars figurine collector Ciro Nieli thinks the new toys are even better than the originals. |

"They're sculpted well and more accurate," says Nieli of the new "Power of the Force II" series. The 23-year-old video store clerk, who has seen the flick 50 times, started collecting when he was 5 and now owns over 100 figurines. He's not thrilled about "Luke the Barbarian," but almost all of the reissued robots are better and, in particular, the new R2-D2 has a molded and painted body in place of the old one's half-assed decal detailing. Retailing between $5-$7, the "Power of the Force II" figurines cost about three times as much as their older counterparts, but they'll undoubtedly increase in value, says Nieli. Most of his original figurines are worth $15-$30 and the rare Blue Snaggletooth goes for $130. He still needs a few more models to fill out his collection, but won't pay toy show top dollar. "Eventually, I'll find the ones I want in a box of loose figurines at a flea market where someone is trying to get rid of them for a dollar a piece," he vows. |
