Da da da DA! Presenting The Fourth Annual Style Wars Winners! This year's competition among Philadelphia student designers was
fierce. No one stabbed anyone with a knitting needle or anything,
but we got loads of entries and all kinds of wild fashion concoctions.
As we do every year, we asked students from colleges and universities
across the city to submit their most creative designs, and boy
did they. In an all-night, pizza-greased session our earSHOT staff judged the entries and picked four, make that five winners
(one of the entries was crafted by two designers). Although we got submissions from the usual design schools, four
of our winners are students at the Philadelphia College of Textiles
and Science; one is a student at Temple University, which doesn't
have a design program at all - go figure. We based our choices
on craftsmanship, creativity, originality and a breakdance competition
- no, no, no. You'll get a chance to see the finalists strut their stuff in
our Style Wars Fashion Show on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Shampoo (Seventh
and Willow, 922-7500), where judges will pick the glamorous winner.
