Fans of acclaimed young playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney’s award-winning trilogy can see all three plays in a rotating two-part repertory by Temple Theaters. The 2013 MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow’s In the Red and Brown Water, directed by MFA candidate Liz Carlson, will alternate with a double bill of The Brothers Size, directed by Lee Kenneth Richardson, and Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet, staged by MFA candidate David Girard. Richardson, a Temple professor and founding artistic director of the Tony Award-winning Crossroads Theatre Company, oversees the trilogy to ensure a unified theatrical experience. The three plays are intense, poetic, personal stories of “the distant present” in a fictional Louisiana town, combining contemporary issues with ancient Yoruban rituals and forgotten gods.
