Located down a flight of stairs from the Joseph Fox Bookshop on Sansom Street is Stadler-Kahn, designer/illustrator/author Alex Stadler’s “elevated five and dime.” For the shop’s opening in June, Stadler assembled a collection of wearables, home goods and decorative items that are new, custom-made or vintage-shopped. The jewel-toned gem of a Rittenhouse boutique is stocked with scarves, T-shirts and ties designed by Stadler, along with finds from his travels and hand-selected goods from local and international artists. Sleek mid century antiques cozy up to sparkly spools of ribbon, and stacks of psychedelic scarves sit atop a rack of vintage items. He’s also brought in Magno, a line of spicily scented soaps from Spain with packaging straight out of American Gigolo. Stop in on Thursdays around happy hour to do some shopping and grab a glass of Stadler’s signature seasonal sangria, featuring triple-sec-steeped apples, red wine and cherry juice. 1724 Sansom St., 267-242-7154, stadler-kahn.com.
