Chimpanzee is the latest film out from Disneynature, Disney's relatively new foray into the world of nature documentary. It's basically the same incredible camera work of BBC's Planet Earth, but with the narrative of a classic Disney story. The opening scenes of adorable baby chimp Oscar and his forest buddies are reminiscent of young Simba and his animated pals. The reference was not lost on Disney when Oscar's world is threatened by a rival chimp clan, headed by none other than Scar — a big, bad chimp that instantly channels his animated counterpart. Although Tim Allen's narration doesn't possess the power of David Attenborough, Chimpanzee certainly has all the elements of a good kids flick with just enough nature and awwww-factor to appease us grown folks.
