Seymour Lipkin is a walking, living piece of piano history. He can trace his pedagogical lineage to Beethoven in just three generations, beginning with his great teacher at Curtis, Horszowski, whose own career reached back to the dawn of the 20th century. He is, as poetic justice would have it, a celebrated Beethoven interpreter. This recital features only music from good old Ludwig van, including his vast, late-in-life masterpiece, the Hammerklavier Sonata.
