“This is my favorite tour of the year,” says the esteemed Titan of the Telecaster, Bill Kirchen, about his Honky-Tonk Holiday. “We even bring lights to decorate the stage.” The man who set the standard for all versions of “Hot Rod Lincoln” with Commander Cody keeps up with his diesel-billy habits and has unearthed some obscure gems like “Truckin’ Trees for Christmas,” “Santa Wants Some Lovin’” and a surf version of “Silent Night.” Kirchen promises to keep the Christmas kitsch in perspective. WHYY TV’s Danny’s Guitar Shop will be at Tin Angel shooting an episode during the day and sticking around for some live crowd action in the evening.
