Since 2008, Philly-based producer Brian McTear’s nonprofit Weathervane Music has been successfully teaming indie artists with a supportive listening and viewing community without turning it into a gimmicky Kickstarter campaign. The gem in the Weathervane crown is the Shaking Through web show that documents, from dreamy start to pragmatic finish, the making of a single song. So far, Sharon Van Etten, Sufjan Stevens and Purling Hiss have been documented in episodes curated by Mikael Jorgensen of Wilco, Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear and Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog. The fourth season of Shaking Through begins with indie-R&B cat Steven A. Clark on stage and on the small screen, along with Ava Luna and Twin Sister.
Sat., Jan. 12, 9:15 p.m., $15, with Steven A. Clark, Ava Luna and Twin Sister, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 215-739-9684, johnnybrendas.com.
