Jasper Avila, chef of the Twisted Tail, was born in the Philippines and lived there till he was nine years old. So when Typhoon Haiyan smashed into the archipelago last week, the devastation hit especially close to home, spurring the chef to organize a benefit dinner co-hosted by former CP food editor/noteworthy Philly Filipino, Drew Lazor. The four-course $35 modern Filipino meal goes down this Monday, November 25th, at Cuba Libre (10 S. 2nd St.), and 100% of profits will be donated directly to the American Red Cross. Make reservations (available from 5 p.m. on) by calling Cuba Libre.
